The materials I used:
1 tablespoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice or calamansi juice
1 teaspoon of warm water
Plastic cup
This is the exact proportion of this. Don't put too much of anything. Lemon or calamansi juice contains citric acid that might burn your skin if you put too much on it.
How does this work? Lemon or calamansi juice has citric acid that can fight germs and bacteria, which are one of the contributors of blackheads and whiteheads. This acid also burns the topmost layer of your skin, thus giving you a lighter complexion. This is why some facial cleanser, such as Eskinol, contains calamansi to help you get a lighter and fairer skin. Citric acid also helps eradicate the excess oil, dead skin cells and dirt away from your skin.
Salt also does the same job. It eliminates germs and unclog your pores.
Mix them all in a plastic cup.
You can use your own clean finger to scrub on the spot on your face where whiteheads or blackheads mostly come out or you can use a cotton ball. You can also scrub it all over your face. Do it in a circular motion, focusing on the part where there are most blackheads and whiteheads, for five minutes. Don't scrub too hard or else you'll experience some burning sensation on your face. You wouldn't want that. Just gently scrub it on your face.
Rinse your face with a lukewarm water afterwards. Then wash your face with a cold water to close your pores so dirt and oil won't get into your skin. Wipe your face with a clean towel.
This is what my nose looks like before.
There are still few whiteheads left but it is still good for just one try. I think I will do this once a week and I'll see how it goes.
One more tip to not to have blackheads or whiteheads is to change your pillowcase regularly since the oil and dirt on your face as you went on with your day transfers to it.
