Today is REVIEW TIME!
Not actually a review. Sort of. It is actually a comparison between two of the cuticle oil/conditioner that I have as of now and which one do I like more.
First contender would be the first one I did buy: The Caronia Kwik-Dry & Cuticle Conditioner.
This is what the bottle looks like.
I seriously loved this cuticle conditioner. I know it is also used for drying nail polish quickly but I don't think it would do the work as it claims. It is too oily to actually dry up nail polish. I think it will just make it longer to dry. I know I'm being too judgmental, lol, but I won't take risk. I don't think its oily consistency would dry a nail polish quick.
I think it does a great job being a cuticle conditioner though. This product is actually an oil, as what I've mentioned, and it is easy to apply since it has a brush as its applicator.
I just use this brush to put the oil on my cuticles without being too messy.
I can't remember the price of this but it is affordable. I think it doesn't reach 50 pesos or maybe something lower than that. This 15 mL cuticle conditioner lasted for more than three months to me. I am actually using this like every morning after I take a bath and before I go to bed in the evening. It gave me such beautiful result. It made my cuticles really moisturized.
This is what is written on the paper wrapped around it. Apparently, there are only two ingredients in this one.
The next one which I bought last month is Bobbie Cuticle Oil.
I was really impressed with Caronia's cuticle conditioner, but I bought this one just to try it out. I was intrigued with the packaging and I would like to see what its applicator since it looks like it doesn't have any brush on it. I was thinking, maybe it has like a medicine dropper inside it.
And to be honest, even before I still have the Caronia one, when I saw this in Watsons, I really wanted to buy it. I was waiting for Caronia to run out but just when I still have a little bit of it, I can't wait to buy it, really.
So, when I opened it to see what is the applicator, I discovered it was actually a dropper or something.
I honestly liked the brush of Caronia rather than this tube of Bobbie. The brush spreads the oil on the whole cuticle easily, while this dropper only puts oil on the middle portion of my cuticle, which is actually stated on the print on the bottle. And when I accidentally squeezed the bottle a bit more than I should, a lot of oil come out. It is not really easy to control.
Also, another difference in the packaging is that the bottle of Caronia is a thick glass. When it dropped on my foot one time, I swear, I thought my finger on my foot would die. It hurts so freaking bad! On the other hand, Bobbie's bottle is a plastic one so you can actually squeeze it and it doesn't hurt that bad if it accidentally drop on my foot. I am also pretty sure it won't crush if it does fall on the floor since it is plastic.
Unlike Caronia, it has Avocado Extract, Almond Oil and Vitamin E.
It says that it prevents hang nails and I do agree! When I was using Caronia, I need to apply a nail hardener to prevent my nails from peeling or getting broken. But with this, even if I don't have any nail polish on, which is sometimes the main reason why I break my nails, I didn't even have any problem. It made my nails shiny, too!
It does soften and moisturize my cuticles. Another thing is, this is scented! I know, some people don't like their cuticle oils scented but I like it. I like smelling things, probably why I love that it is scented. It actually smells like a "ice scramble" or "iskrambol", which is a pink slushy here in the Philippines with a little drizzle of chocolate syrup and powdered milk on top and sometimes have marshmallows in it. It is a "street food" since it is being sold on the streets while the vendors walk around. Yes, for me, it smells like that! And I love it.
It is also 35 mL so I think it would really last for a long time since a 15mL one, lasted for months.
THE BREAKDOWN
Caronia's Cuticle conditioner
Pros
-cheap
-has a brush as its applicator so easier application
-moisturizes cuticles
-last for a long time
-small so it's portable
-not scented (This could go on the Cons, for me, too, but I liked that it has no scent in it because if it probably has and it doesn't smell good, I'd ditch this.)
Cons
-it is too oily for my liking
-thick glass as its bottle (I put this right here because of my bad experience of it dropping on my foot)
-the whole bottle gets oily as time passes by which kind of making it a little bit messy
Bobbie's Cuticle Oil
Pros
-cheap
-moisturizes cuticles
-prevents hang nails
-shines my nails
-last for a long time
-small so it's portable
-scented (Well, I liked the smell of it so...)
-plastic as its bottle
-has more interesting packaging than Caronia's
-isn't as oily as Caronia's
Cons
-dropper as its applicator so it only pours oil on the mid portion of the cuticle and makes the drops of the oil unmanageable
All in all, I like both cuticle oils.
Which will I buy the second time? That would, obviously, be Bobbie's Cuticle Oil.
That's all for today! Thanks and have a great day ahead.
xoxo
